A BRIEF HISTORY OF BARBERIA
Established in 2011, when the founders first met and shared their common interest in the the barber culture. The encounter led to the idea of rediscovering the art of barbering in a new exciting form of barbershop. Its aspiration was to bring the refinement of the past glory as during that time, the barbershop business remained one of the last vestiges for masculine refuge in the metrosexual and androgynous social frame. It was increasingly challenging to find a genuine place for gentlemen that could do simple and straightforward trims and shaves that could also completely understand their needs. The grooming industry was very much predominated by typical hair salons with products that, for the most part, were more skewed toward ladies’ needs only. And what’s more, due to the lack of improvements and innovations in most barbershops at the time, the name barbershop had a negative impression. It was associated with a poor-quality, unsanitary grooming place that only catered for low-classmen only. Despite its challenges, there were many gentlemen out there yearning for such an exclusive domain that was able to provide the very best in men’s grooming experience and craftsmanship. A place that manifests a true gentleman and welcomes a genuine camaraderie.
Consequently, a premium barber concept was created and BARBERIA’s first barbershop-cum-sensorium outlet was opened in Grand Indonesia in 2013. The brand has always been focused on providing excellent quality and standards of grooming ever since. Gradually, it branched out to Senayan City, Plaza Indonesia, PIK Avenue, and established a partnership to open its first luxury grooming parlor with The Langham Jakarta. BARBERIA is reaching even greater heights, extending its business to Bali and creating a luxurious grooming experience that's open to all. This expansion includes a new grooming parlour at Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, as well as a barbershop in Pantai Berawa, Canggu. In addition to these exciting developments, BARBERIA looks forward to opening another luxury grooming establishment at Suvarna Jakarta Golf Club, specifically catering to golfers in September 2024. BARBERIA INDONESIA currently has a total of 26 barbers and 22 members of staff.
